Just a short drive towards south of Doha is Al Wakra, which has grown from a tiny pearl and fishing village to a small town. The sandy Wakrah beach is visited by families for a welcome break. There is a beautiful large park just opposite the beach which also has a kids play area.

The weaponry museum in Al Luqta is not normally open to the general public but can be visited by arrangement or with a tour group. It houses an amazing display of gold and silver swords and daggers from the region as well as weapons and armour dating back to the 16th century. Each exhibit is labeled in English and Arabic, and some of the displays include relevant photographs or paintings

Zekreet beach is a peaceful & serene beach on the way to Dukhan, located approximately 80 Km from Doha at the tip of the peninsula on the west coast of the country. Looking at the terrain & road conditions, a 4X4 vehicle is highly recommended. The beautiful view of the blue water alongside the interestingly shaped rocks & cliffs offer a breathtaking view. It is the perfect place for a camping weekend getaway. Camping here is free and is very popular among residents & expats who love the outdoors. If camping here, one has to be well prepared as there are no facilities or shops nearby. BBQ equipment & related requirements has to be carried, if you intend to barbeque. The Zekreet fort dating back to the 18th century is also located nearby. So, whether you plan for a camping weekend or a day’s trip, Zekreet is a perfect getaway.
